If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like inside of a supplements research and production lab, wonder no more. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at some of the common pieces of lab equipment used in this type of setting, as well as give you a video tour of the Nootropics Depot lab. If you’ve never seen the inner workings of a supplements research and production facility, well… perhaps you’ll find this as interesting as I did.
I’ve been taking supplements to try and improve my mental and physical health for close to a decade now, but I had no idea what went into the production of these products until recently.
What Goes Into Making Supplements?
When you take a look at the ingredients list on the back of your favorite supplements, chances are you don’t recognize most of the items. This is because many of the ingredients used in supplements are isolated from natural sources and then purified for use in these products. In a lab setting, this process of isolating and purifying ingredients is done using a variety of different pieces of equipment.
One of the first things you’ll notice in a supplements research and production lab are the various pieces of equipment used to create and test the products. This can include everything from Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Other common pieces of equipment you might find are things like pH meters, UV-Vis spectrophotometers, and even nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers (NMR).
Of course, no lab would be complete without a few safety precautions. Most labs will have things like fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and safety showers. There will also be a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE) available, such as gloves, goggles, and lab coats.
What You’ll See in the Nootropics Depot Lab Tour
Now that you know a little bit about what to expect inside of a supplements research and production lab, let’s take a look at one in action. The following video is a tour of the Nootropics Depot lab, which is one of the top suppliers of nootropics and dietary supplements.
The owner of the company, Paul (MisterYouAreSoDumb), gives us a tour of the facility and shows us some of the equipment that they use to produce their products. He also explains how they test their products to ensure quality and safety.
As you can see, there’s a lot that goes into creating these products. From the various pieces of equipment used to the safety precautions in place, it’s clear that a lot of time and effort goes into making sure these products are of the highest quality.
If you’re interested in learning more about supplements research and production, or if you’re simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes, I highly recommend taking a look at this virtual 360-degree tour of the lab as well. It’s eye-opening to see how much work goes into creating these products. Who knows, you might even find yourself interested in a career in this field after watching it!
