The Volans-i Delivery Drone Can Travel Up to 500 Miles

A drone company is attracting attention their way recently with their bold claim: a drone that can carry cargo at extreme distances. The company Volans-i claims to have a cargo drone that can fly up to 500 miles to its destination easily. With today’s fast-paced world of delivery, this can be a game changer.

At a time where companies like Amazon and FedEx race towards faster delivery time, drones may be the solution. The times are changing, and land-based delivery may soon be a thing of the past. No longer will your package be delayed because of traffic jams or unexpected road incidents. The idea that you will wait weeks to get the package you ordered online may be a thing of the past. With better technology merging with parcel delivery businesses, you may even have to simply wait hours to get your order.

Volans-i Long Distance Cargo Drone:

There’s more. Not only does this drone from Volans-i boast distance, it also offers convenience. Convenient, in the sense that it can ship allegedly to cargo ships already moving at a distance. The San Francisco-based company even boldly claimed that this very drone could have saved the Titanic. A very bold claim, but maybe with their crown jewel, the hype may be matched by the product.

The only chink in the armor of this so-called long distance drone is its cargo weight limitations. Of course, nothing is perfect. For an increased distance reach, you have to sacrifice on other aspects of the drone. It could be the battery, what the drone’s body can be made of, or in this case, the weight it can carry. Yes, the drone can only (as of now) carry at a maximum of 20 pounds of cargo. This seems to limit the possibilities, but important mail, medicine, and other small items can pass.

But of course the positives greatly outweigh its negatives. Aside from the distance it can reach, the drone is also capable of deploying and landing on small spaces accurately. This means launching it or receiving it do not require special ramps or platforms. Another great thing about this drone is its speed. Not only is it far-reaching, it is also pretty fast. 200 miles an hour is nothing to scoff about. You can be sure it will reach its destination with time to spare.

The company plans to use this drone to transport heavy machinery and equipment. With all the latest advancements in drone technology, this may be a landmark creation. A drone that can travel far, fast, and can carry a bit of load may be the trifecta in the ongoing market.

  1. Sounds interesting but I don’t understand where the 200 mph speeds are coming from. Based on pictures I have seen, their drones seem to be built by latitude (https://latitudeengineering.com/products/hq/) with the hq-60b clocking in at about 46 mph (https://www.unmannedsystemssource.com/shop/vehicles/hybrid-quadrotor-hq-60/) and the drone in the picture above seems to be from an airbus competition with their submission coming in at about 90 mph. A 200 mph drone with a 500 mile range, powered by a small piston engine, that is the size of what is in those pictures sounds pretty impressive but I haven’t seen much to back those claims up.
