Squito – A Camera In A Ball

In the not very distant past, panoramic photography, with expensive equipment and laborious dark room time, overlapping and stitching skillfully together several exposures, was a highly specialized job. But thanks to the digital technology and computer hardware and software, it is becoming increasingly simple for guys like you and me to produce great panoramas. Now to make things even simpler, Steve Hollinger, a Boston-area inventor, has developed a prototype of a unique digital camera that is capable of producing 360-degrees panoramas. The prototype, Squito is a ball equipped with digital cameras and sensors that captures images when tossed into air. With the help of sensors and image stabilizers, Squito reorients and stitches images together while in the air.

The product is not in the market yet, but there appears to be a great potential for its success in the areas of special-effects, still and video photography. For further details and a video, check out their website.
