The Phantom 4 is on the way and it just may be hotter than a dog in Hawaii. Drone enthusiasts everywhere have long called DJI the “Apple of drones” due to their sexy lineup of sleek, highly advanced drones. And the Phantom 4 seems poised to continue on the tradition.
Why are we raving about the Phantom 4? Namely, this bad boy comes complete with a number of technological advances designed to make drone flying about as easy as making a sandwich.
The Phantom 4 offers advanced obstacle avoidance technology, utilizing both its front cameras and sonar in order to both avoid obstacles up to 50 feet away and monitor its own altitude. It even comes with a Come Home feature that will allow the drone to fly back to a set home base while avoiding collisions on its own. Along with that, the Phantom 4 can stay airborne for almost 30 minutes and fly for up to three miles at a time with a full charge, making this a beast to contend with in the sky.
With a magnesium skeleton and a new core design, the Phantom 4 is supposed to be a lot steadier and easier to handle, especially thanks to its new TapFly feature that allows you to navigate the drone with a couple simple touches. Pretty soon, flying a drone could be about as easy as playing Call of Duty if other manufacturers follow DJI’s lead. You don’t have to be an expert navigator to fly this drone and this could be the model that brings drone flying into the mainstream, which is always something to smile about.
Whether you’re taking photos, taking videos, or exploring the landscape with your new drone, the Phantom 4 seems like a versatile, all-around strong flier. For instance, the Phantom 4 offers advanced motion tracking, the better to snap photos or take videos of moving people or objects. With its own GPS+GLONASS Dual Positioning Module and FOV 94° 20 mm lenses, you’ll be sure to snap amazing shots outdoors.
But the question you may be asking yourself is if the Phantom 4 really is as good as we’re making it sound. Granted, it’ll be a while before any of us get our mitts on the Phantom 4. But if DJI can keep its promises (and going by some of their last offerings like the amazing Phantom 3, we know they’re more than capable of doing so), we’ve got a lot to look forward to when the Phantom 4 actually hits shelves.
DJI’s previous offerings remain some of the best photography drones for both amateurs and professionals on the market. We have no doubts that the Phantom 4 will live up to our expectations.
