Drones have seeped into pop culture and society in general that this new drone should have been expected. A drone is turning heads recently for its unconventional accessories.
Yes, we’ve seen recreational drones have high definition cameras attached to them. We have seen new drones capable of lifting items to great distances without landing. Even more drones these days can follow you around, recording your every action without skipping a beat.
The Parrot Mambo Quadcopter Drone, or Parrot Drone for short, took a different approach. This particular rec tech boasts two different tools as accessories. These accessories look and feel like they came straight out of a toy store.
Parrot Mambo Drone Accessories:
The first accessory is a grabber claw/arm that can pick up items. This can act as a delivery tool, with the grabber holding the item and flying it away. Another use for this is to pick up items remotely. The tool can attach to the base of the drone, giving the Parrot a “cargo helicopter” vibe to it. At its best, it can carry up to 4 kilograms of cargo, which can be any small item around the house. All in all, it can be a fun pick up and drop activity.
But this accessory is not the one turning heads.
The crown jewel of this rec drone is its second accessory: a cannon that fires projectiles. And no, it’s not a mediaeval cannon to fire at the cavalry while your infantry attack the flanks. This cannon is more of a Nerf gun in terms of projectiles. The ammo revolves around plastic balls that can shoot up to 6 feet away.
Remember those target practice you used to do as a kid with your toys? Well now you can do it again. But this time, instead of you acting like the soldier, you can act like the helicopter operator. The cannon can fire accurately (with practice) but is harmless enough not to accidentally injure anyone caught in the line of fire. The drone can also be remotely accessed from a relatively far distance. Using your smartphone for a controller, you can be sure to have your personal cannon for fun.
If you have money to spare, the Parrot Mambo Drone can be yours for around $80 at Amazon.
