There are a lot of great portable solar powered battery packs out there as well as solar panels for the home. But something that you don’t see often for portable use and home use are wind turbines. But that’s totally understandable as some areas are just not that windy. But if you do live in a part of the world where the wind is plentiful, then the Trinity Personal Portable Wind Turbine might be something to consider. There is a crowdfunding campaign at the moment on Kickstarter.
The Personal Wind Turbines by Janulus are available in four different options from powering your cellphone and mobile gadgets with the 50W and 400W and 1,000W and 2,500Watt system that can power a home, cabin, RV, and electric vehicles. The lithium ion batteries come in sizes 7,500; 30,000; 100,000; and 300,000 mAh with the smallest battery only weighing in at 650 grams. The wind turbines fold together into a cylinder making it very easy to carry and to travel around with. The system has been simplified as much as possible and for the home versions, there is no need to get a third-party electrician involved when it comes to installing the system.
To set the Trinity Portable Wind Turbine up, you simply pull out the three blades and arrange the legs in either tripod configuration or lay it flat, and follow the setup instructions. The two larger systems can be setup outside your home, cabin, or RV and plugged directly into an outlet without the need for additional wiring and electrical knowledge. The smaller versions such as the Trinity 50 and Trinity 400 are ideal for camping and charging your mobile gadgets.
All four wind turbines only require a minimum wind speed of 4mph to get the turbines spinning. More details are available on their Kickstarter page as well as the Janulus website.
