HYBRiX Drone Sets World Record for Flight Duration

Quaternium Technologies managed to develop a multicopter drone that set a world record for flight duration! The company used the HYBRiX.20 RPA on Christmas Eve in Valencia, Spain to set the world record.
The current record for a multicopter drone for flying was 4 hours and 40 minutes, giving future challengers quite the number to beat. The record-winning drone used a fuel-electric powertrain, running on LIP 125 batteries and a combustion engine that used a combination of mostly octane gas and a small amount of oil.
The HYBRiX weighs about 30 lbs, and about 35 lbs when carrying the heaviest payload it’s capable of. Flight duration when the drone is carrying a payload is 2 hours.
The HYBRiX can cruise at a speed of 50 km and hour, though it can reach a maximum of 80 km an hour. It is unclear if the drone was modified at all prior to setting the record, but we do know that the Q16 Skyline control system was used to pilot the drone.
The drone also comes equipped with two LCD screens to allow viewing of the video feed as well as flight control. The drone and gimbal can both be controlled from the same control panel.
