Over the years, I’ve become a big fan of coffee although far from an expert. After visiting Melbourne and enjoying many cups of coffee, I’ve realized that coffee here in North America is pretty damn terrible. Coffee was first discovered in Ethiopia and according to legend it was discovered by a goat herder, Kaldi. It’s said that Kaldi discovered coffee after he noticed that his goats, upon eating berries from a certain tree, became so energetic that they refused to sleep at night. He reported these findings to the abbot of the local monastery who made a drink with these berries and discovered first hand that it kept him very alert during the long hours of evening prayers. Slowly, word spread and coffee eventually reached the Arabian peninsula, where it began a journey which would spread across the globe. The Goat Story Mug is a horn shaped coffee mug and is in honor of the goat that discovered the coffee bean.
The Goat Story Mug comes with a set of two straps allowing you to easily carry and transport your mug anywhere while you’re riding a bike, walking, or taking public transportation. You’ll have your hands free to do what you need to do but will always have your coffee close to you. The horn shape of the mug will let you enjoy your coffee down to the very last drop.
The horn shaped coffee mug has no flat bottom to rest it on a table but it does come with its own base in which you can set the mug into when you want to place it on a flat surface. That base is also used as a sleeve when you’re holding the Goat Story Mug to enjoy your beverage. The mug is available in a 12oz and 16oz capacity and comes in either black, brown, marsala, or white.
Real leather is used for the sleeve/base as well as the straps which help you carry it. And for those who are not comfortable with using animal skin, they also have a hemp and faux leather version available. That was very thoughtful of them! The Goat Story Coffee Mug ranges in price between $29.50 and $36.50 depending on the color, material, and size.
