Ordering takeout food has evolved into a very simple process over the years. No longer do people have to go to stores to get food if they have a craving. Stores have since offered takeout delivery where workers drop off the order right at your doorstep. While the formula worked for the last few decades, people still think the process is a little slow. Indeed, waiting even thirty minutes for your food to arrive at your doorstep is considered a very long period.
Taking Out the Competition
Takeout food is all about instant gratification – or as close to instant as one could get. During the last couple of years, a new trend in delivery offered faster results than the traditional methods. Drone delivery is an idea that has floated around for quite some time. It was only a matter of technology actually catching up to what we envisioned. Now, more and more businesses offer drone delivery as a method of obtaining your goods. These drones can fly to your doorstep as fast as two minutes after you hit the ‘order’ button on your phone.
Food Delivery by Drones
Research from Betway Casino found that food delivery by drone has already been trialed in Iceland; though avoiding the country’s long and treacherous roads was more for the convenience of drivers than consumers. Now, UberEats plans to roll out drone delivery by 2021, with the company’s CEO claiming it is his “personal belief that a key to solving urban mobility is flying burgers.”

The Positives
Delivery by drone is the superior option for those wanting a faster time of arrival. Without having to deal with traffic, these flying drones can cover a lot of ground in a hurry. Delivery drones also tend to cater to one customer at a time. This means you do not have to wait until the courier finishes their routes before arriving at your area. Drone deliveries, as seen in the many trial runs globally, offered results that only took mere minutes after ordering. Imagine feeling hungry and looking up some takeout food on your phone. A few minutes later, you open your door and the food you wanted arrived without problems. Convenient, is it not?
The Downsides
Of course, these minute-deliveries had very specific requirements to be feasible. For one, the customer who ordered had to be in qualified areas. These qualified areas (for now) are very few, as the testers would require only short trips for orders. A close proximity to the origin point ensures that the drone’s battery lasts during the duration of the flight – both to and from the target location. You also have to take into account the weight of the food in question. Battery life would decide where it can and cannot go.
Those living farther away from the big cities may have to wait a bit before having access to this type of delivery. While not everyone can avail of this service, it is only a matter of time.
