In a recent article, we talked about the delivery drone Flytrex and their plan to offer their delivery services to local shops. They conducted their test runs at North Carolina, where they teamed up with shops to create a food delivery chain for the people. Well it seems that Flytrex has seen great things with their experiment, as they are now doing it again.
Flytrex Food Delivery
Their current target is not a small town, but a golf course. And their clients are not citizens, but the players in the middle of a round of golf. Because who really wants to go someplace else when you are in the middle of doing something? Yes, those days when you prayed for food to come down from the skies may soon become a reality.
The golf course, named Sili-drone Valley, offers the food from their club delivered right to their members via drone. They plan to start their test runs this month, hoping to at least get some buzz because of this new technology. New buzz means new clients, who hopefully would come for the drone, and stay for the golf.
Not a bad business strategy, but will it actually pay off? Flytrex and Sili-drone Valley offers food delivery anywhere on the course within 10 minutes of ordering. While it does seem like it is still a long period of time, the alternative would be to walk back to the cafeterias. And when you are playing, the last thing on your mind is to do a roundtrip for a food run. Players can order their food via an app, which will then take the order and the person’s location. Pretty neat, huh?
Flytrex plans on further teaming up with other golf courses for their services. They hope that it can help with the declining number in memberships and players on the course.
For the price of $3, you get (nearly) instant gratification in the form of a delivery drone. You get to order food and drinks without having to run back and forth to the clubhouse. For some this may just be a fancy way of getting your food. Others may be curious enough just to try them out and see. Others may see it as a form of enabling laziness among the populace. I guess this is what the future looks like, huh?
