There are a lot of cool decoration pieces that levitate. It seems to be the new thing these days, to make objects of all shapes and sizes float in the air. Flyte, the levitating light bulb, is a creation that was going to be “discovered” sooner or later. This levitating light hovers by magnetic levitation and the bulb is powered through the air.
Flyte is designed in Sweden and the device makes use of various woods in its construction such as quarter-sawn oak, walnut wood, and ash. The LEDs found on Flyte are energy efficient and rated at about 50,000 hours. If you break it down, that’s 24 hours of light for an entire five and a half years! Not bad, not bad.
FLYTE Levitating Light Bulb
It’s designed in such a way that no cords or wires are attached to the actual light bulb. The base however does have a cord while the light bulb itself hovers over the base, gently spinning. You won’t find an on/off switch here. You simply tap on the base to turn it on or off. Just keep in mind that Flyte won’t light up an entire room with just one light bulb. This is more of a decoration use and not a very practical choice for your lighting needs. At least it will have all of your house guests curious about your light bulb.
When you are not using your light, simply remove the hovering light bulb. But that’s not all, once the bulb is removed you can place your phone on the wooden base and wirelessly charge your mobile phone. The light bulbs are available in chrome, copper, and gold. Now here is the kicker, the Flyte Levitating Light Bulb is going to set you back $349 retail! But if you hurry, you can get the Kickstarter special. The $199, $229, and $239 specials may be sold out but the early bird Kickstarter special is available for $249 for a limited time only! You can also check out the Flyte website for more details.
