Earlier this year, Autel Robotics showcased their foldable drone at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. In their presentation, they showed a foldable drone called EVO that grabbed everyone’s attention.
The drone’s first and foremost asset is its foldability. This means it can be quite portable, making it easier for travel. Foldability is a great thing since it would be less bulky, and it takes up less space. It can perform its tasks as a drone, and at the end of the day it can be safely tucked away for storage. Foldability also means its fragile parts have protection when in its folded state. Durability is also increased. Parts like the arms, wings, and blades all go inside its protective folded design when not in use.
The EVO Drone Revealed:
EVO’s next assets are its specs, which is advertised to compete with DJI’s Mavic Pro and Phantom 4 Pro. The camera can create brilliant and detailed images at 4k resolution and 60 frames per second. It can also record and capture images at 1080p resolution, but this time maxing out at 120 fps.
The flight time advertised for the EVO drone is 30 minutes, while reaching 4.3 miles from its starting location. It can reach up to 45 mph, but this involves activating the Sport Mode that will be available for the drone’s software sometime this year. For regular mode, users report something closer to half of that number.
Aesthetically-wise, EVO is a thing of beauty. Its folded state looks sleek and great looking. It can easily be a design or display when not in use. While in flight, it spreads its wings and can fly with the best of them.
The demand for the drone is large enough that it actually sold out swiftly after release. If you are interested in getting this particular drone, you may have to go to 3rd party vendors. The EVO drone boasts a high price of $999, but with its high quality camera, foldability, and quality, you may be getting what you paid for in quality and longevity.
