Coordinated drone presentations are becoming the standard in night celebrations. This job, formerly dominated by firework displays, may soon be coming as a standard to drones. Fireworks has held the title of king when it comes to night time light showcases. But now, drones show that they are capable of providing an even better display.
A particular drone show in Xi’an, China is making headlines around the world. Why you ask? Well, this display may very well be the largest drone swarm show ever recorded.
Ehang Drone Showcase:
1374 drones took center stage in China recently, breaking the previous record in the Winter Olympics 2018. Held in PyeongChang, the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics saw 1218 drones light up the sky. Many people believed it to be the most beautiful light display to ever grace the darkness of the night. Until now.
The Chinese drone company Ehang created this record-breaking display. Ehang is known recently for their work on a flying taxi drone, which can very well be the future of transport. The show itself proved to be quite the scene. Although at times there were some mistakes and miscues, the show in general proved to be a success.
Fireworks may soon be a thing of the past. Drones do not come with the loud bang that accompanies traditional fireworks. Drones also last longer in the air compared to their ancient ancestors. Fireworks can only last seconds in the sky, along with their patterns, lights, and colors. Drones can stay in the air for as long as the display demands. The limit is only its battery life, whose limits grow with every new generation of drones. Fireworks also come with dangerous explosions, where many people suffer from injuries annually. With drones, not only do you get a powerful display, it is also incredibly safe.
With these drone presentations only requiring people behind a computer to set the patterns, safety cannot be more pressed. With more and more events showcasing (and even opting) to use drones instead of fireworks, our future may be on drone technology.
