Here is a pretty cool concept that can extend a drone’s life considerably. In an attempt to prevent disastrous landings and crashes when flying drones, they may soon be equipped with their very own parachutes.
The company Drone Rescue designed this idea with the hopes that it can help protecting both the drone and the people below. When a drone goes haywire and starts free-falling, a number of things that can happen. First, the most obvious result is physical damage of the drone. The second unintended result from a falling drone is injury – in case there are people below. The last, and probably the most dangerous, is a drone’s tendency to catch on fire. This has created massive forest fires in the continental United States this year. With the rise of drone use, the probability of this gets even higher. This isn’t one of those things where you want to just try your luck.
Parachute Feature
Luckily, a parachute can help prevent all the complications and give your drone a second chance. The parachute comes with its own carbon cage and sensors. These sensors detect if the drone’s flight seems awry. It acts independently from the drone – meaning it can still work even if its host drone runs out of battery mid-air. The design of the parachute’s deployment and position on the drone is brilliant as well. It makes sure the spinning rotors and the parachute do not meet – a catastrophic event should it happen. With this idea, hopefully drone crashes will be a thing of the past.
Drone Rescue performed a set of tests to check the capability and response time of their creation. All good news so far; as the parachute opened a hundred times out of a hundred, leaving little to no doubt about its effectiveness. Those interested in obtaining one for their drones may have to wait until the end of the year to get them. Things are looking great however, and with parachute technology finally reaching drones, mishaps may soon cease to exist. It will be a safer world for people, the environment, and drones in general.
