Drone Captures Amazing Footage of Ice Skater on Lake

Every day, drones are becoming more and more common. Everyone from hobbyists to large business corporations are using drones to do a variety of things, from taking selfies to delivering customers’ groceries. We’ve written about emergency personnel using drones to help deliver aid and find missing people, and law enforcement using drones to do a number of things, including surveillance. But something that we all know about, is how drones can capture some amazing footage using the cameras attached to them.
The development of technology has always been a race, with companies developing new features and add-ons for drones regularly. Drones are becoming more efficient, light-weight, and can have incredible battery life, making them great for photography. Cameras are also improving, and better cameras mean more expensive drones.
Lots of hobby pilots choose their drones because of the cameras attached to them. Many amateur filmmakers and photographers focus on purchasing drones with decent cameras that can capture work that looks good enough to share. Professional drone pilots who want to use their drones for photography and film making will focus more on purchasing drones with high-quality cameras since they will be using their machines on multiple projects to produce professional work.
High-quality cameras on drones raise the price of the drones tremendously, but that is the price one has to pay for the ability to capture striking detail and vivid colors. Some of these drones also have buttons to keep the drones in a hovering position and silence the drone so that the footage captured will be as clear as possible.
Justin McFarland, a drone pilot, was able to capture some stunning footage over the mountains of Utah. The video, gaining 10,000 views in the first week after its upload, was filmed over the Pineview Reservoir. McFarland was able to capture an ice skater skating on the ice with the gorgeous scenery in-frame. Mountains and trees covered in snow provide a stunning backdrop for the wintery scene.
This is not the first video of McFarland’s to gain immense popularity: he’s filmed a similar video in the past that aired on ABC News because it was such a hit. There are countless examples of brilliant videos captured by drone enthusiasts, amateurs and professionals alike, so anyone who is able to and is interested in capturing great photos or videos should do so—just remember to follow the rules of your country and to be mindful of your own safety and others’.
