Driven – World’s Most Efficient Drivetrain For Bicycles

If you love biking, you’re about to love it even more. Imagine biking up that hill and not having to use as much energy as you normally would? Driven, by Ceramic Speed, partnered with the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Colorado to design the most efficient drivetrain possible. In the end, the result was Driven

With Driven, they have created a drive shaft concept which utilizes 21 CeramicSpeed Bearings and has successfully set a new benchmark as the world’s most efficient drivetrain. The Driven system creates 49% less friction when compared to the market leading chain and derailleur drivetrain.

Traditional systems mentioned contain eight points of sliding friction which are generated from the articulation of the chain at these eight points. The Driven system is able to eliminate all of these eight points of where sliding friction occur. How?

In order to achieve this efficiency, Driven makes use of CeramicSpeed bearings in a pinion style drive shaft system. 21 bearings play a vital role in its efficiency and functionality. Because of the very low rolling friction and longevity, the bearings can transfer torque from the front ring through the drive shaft, and then onto the thirteen speed rear cog.
