The world’s leading drone authority, DJI, made another headline this week. Known for their high quality and always reliable drones, they have solidified their position in the drone tech market. At the European Drone Summit held at Frankfurt, Germany, DJI attracted even more eyes to their very impressive collection. They unveiled their newest drone: the Phantom 4 RTK.

This is not your everyday recreational drone. Aimed more towards businesses and surveying tasks, the Phantom 4 RTK offers high precision aerial surveillance like no other. It offers centimeter-level navigation and positioning perfectly suited for aerial scouting of large areas. This gives the Phantom 4 RTK accuracy, and doing the job efficiently – by being faster and more accurate than traditional (manual) methods. With this drone, companies and businesses can check their property routinely without any problems, while also getting incredibly reliable data.
It has high quality cameras and powerful batteries, both needed for long-term and accurate data inspection. The camera is something special. It has a 1” 20 megapixel capacity, and can perfectly capture images even while on the move. This complements the drone for its main advertised job, scouting and surveillance.
Another factor to complement the drone is the battery. It has a flight time of 30 full minutes on a single charge. It can also transmit data to its host controller in real time, giving the users the most accurate data possible. Distance between host and drone is also impressive. At 7 kilometers, it can still transmit data in real time back to its source. This is perfect for scouting areas with wide perimeters, including farms and mountains.
The drone is not your average recreational camera UAV. It is for serious businesses and markets. The price for this drone is equally serious with regards to its purpose and abilities. DJI is charging interested clients at around $6600 for a single drone. For those wanting to upgrade their surveying capabilities, this may be one drone you should not pass up. For everyone else, maybe we can stick to cheaper, more recreational varieties.
