Someone once told me that if you spin a can surrounded by ice, you can take it from room temperature to a nicely chilled drink in no time. I believed him but couldn’t think of a way to make a home-made contraption as he described it. Well, never-mind making my own because the Chill-O-Matic can probably do a much better job.
Sometimes I open the fridge expecting a nice cold drink only to be disappointed that there’s no drinks there. My usual solution is to stick a drink in the freezer for about 25 minutes or so (yes, I like them super chilled). But with the Chill-O-Matic, I can reduce that time to only 60 seconds or so…..with the help of some ice though. The device is operated on two AA batteries. Simple load the Chill-O-Matic with a handful of ice, stick the can in, and let the device do its thing. 60 seconds later, your drink is nice and cold. And according to the reviews, your carbonated beverage won’t blow up in your face either. Some suggest running it twice to make sure it’s properly cold. I suppose I can wait two-minutes.
You may be asking how does spinning a drink in ice make it cold faster? By spinning the drink, the warm liquid in the center will move outwards causing more of the warm liquid to interact with the cold ice on the outside. The ice on the outside will absorb a lot more heat much more quickly than something like a freezer or an ice bath.
