Looks like drones are now the future of delivery worldwide. Even if you are in Asia, you can still experience getting your packages delivered via drone in the near future. And why not? A drone floating down from the skies right to your doorstep sounds like a fun experience. A fully automated delivery system would also mean no human error. That means no more misplaced deliveries, no broken items, no delayed reasons, and especially, no mistakes. It also provides an alternative to manpower that has been a big issue these days. Navigation-wise, it will take some time to perfect this system, but when they complete, we can say goodbye to delayed deliveries and waiting by your doorstep.
In a perfect world, that is. But so far, all our drone-centric delivery systems are far from perfect. But we will get there one of these days, I’m telling you.
China Drone Delivery System:
The biggest logistics firm in China, SF Express, announced this week that they obtained their permit for drone deliveries. This has been a nearly yearlong testing process, and they finally got approval. The origins of this drone delivery system idea itself originated as early as 2013.
Like the drone delivery systems in the United States, the drones aimed at China tested earlier at smaller communities. This is to see any problems with the delivery service while starting at a smaller population. It also means that the area the drones will navigate through would be less crowded.
The drone delivery system in China looks to have 3 methods. For its largest deliveries like bulk products and large items, planes are used. The large drones would handle distribution of the products from the planes to the designated warehouses. After that, the third and final piece of the puzzle are small drones that would take the products from warehouses to their owners.
It is a pretty neat chain of command and distribution. This would mean that every drone has a role to play, and we can maybe see a more streamlined delivery process.
The main target would obviously be the crowded metropolitan districts of China. But it would also be a priority to get drones involved in delivery of medicine. In rural places, it may be difficult to reach via land transports. This can provide trouble for rural clinics or small town hospitals. A drone delivery service can definitely make an easier path towards better healthcare.
