The C-1 From Lit Motors is one cool looking vehicle and is essentially an enclosed motorcycle. The vehicle was engineered from the ground with you the consumer in mind. With the C-1, parking is a breeze while getting work fast safely and in an economical way is a possibility. The vehicle is designed for efficient and high-speed travel. Unlike a motorcycle, the enclosed design protects you from the elements and features comforts you see in a car like climate control and a premium sound system. And unlike motorcycles, there is not need to shift your weight or countersteer as the C-1 drives like a car and the gyros take care of the complicated stuff.
Maybe not a family vehicle but most trips are made with only a single person in a vehicle which makes the C-1 practical for a daily driver. It’s designed to transport you and your daily essentials but can fit a passenger when needed. The C-1 will also feature smart phone as well as cloud connectivity. The C-1 features high-torque in-hub electric motors which allow for space saving and provides a driving experience that’s very responsive. The vehicle also features regenerative braking using a KERS to store the energy kinetically in the gyro flywheels.
Although compact, the C-1 has car-like safety features including multiple airbags, seat belts, steel-reinforced chassis, and a gyro stability system giving the C-1 safety and peace of mind of a traditional car. Lit Motors uses a patented gyroscopic stability system which uses electronically-controlled CMGs (control moment gyroscopes) that are able to generate thousands of ft-lbs of torque. These gyros are controlled by the vehicle which allow the C-1 to lean into and out of turns and stay upright when not in motion and even in a collision. The gyro system is the key to bringing safety and interface of a car to a two-wheel platform such as the C-1.
The C-1 is also 100% electric and uses a small 10 kWh battery pack which allows the vehicle to travel up to 200 miles per charge. Acceleration of 0-60mph can be achieved in six seconds while it can hit speeds of over 100mph making it freeway ready.
