The Amazing Amazon Echo

You’ve probably heard of Amazon Echo, and you may even have it. Although Amazon Echo was the first bit of technology of its kind, it was, and is, pretty cool, but Google has finally announced something we’ve all been waiting for—the competitor. Google Home is set to come out later this year, having been announced about a month ago, and so far there is no price point released. Google Home seems to be everything the Echo is, only better.

Acting essentially as a virtual assistant, what is great about the Google Home is the fact you can talk to it just like it were a person, with very few instances of miscommunication. The device will have some amazing features and we’re excited to delve into it.

The Google Home is shaped a bit like a wine glass, making it pretty aesthetically pleasing, unlike the Echo that looks a bit out of place in most rooms. It is always listening and has far-field microphones so it will be able to hear you from across the room, a feature that sometimes the Echo struggles with. It can answer your questions, play your music and control certain things in your house.

While the Echo can do a lot of this, it doesn’t do it as well and it doesn’t connect to other things in your house such as lights.

The Google Home can add things to your calendar, send route directions to your phone, control the lights, alarms or even thermostats in your home, as well as bounce information to other devices such as the TV. This is all pretty amazing, and many of these features are so much more advanced and sophisticated than what you’ll find the Echo capable of.

The Echo was built to be a singular device for the home, but Google Home is instead built with the idea of using it in multiple rooms, so it’s streamlined much better throughout the home than the Echo ever was.

While Amazon’s Echo is able to control other things that the Google Home can’t, although we’re not sure what yet since Google has yet to release that information, the things it can do it’s likely going to do better than the Echo.

We’re not sure when this nifty little device is going to come out and we don’t know how much it will cost, but it seems like something that’s going to be worth splurging on. Not only will it have some amazing features that its competitor can only dream about, it’s also much prettier and can be streamlined through the whole home. We’re even closer to a smart house than we thought. The Amazon Echo is available here.
