These days we can’t live without out phones and our faces are constantly locked onto our screens whether we are with company or alone. Depending on what part of the world you live in, your mobile service is either extremely expensive like in Canada or on the very inexpensive side like Pakistan or India. For the ten years of having a mobile phone, I’ve always stuck with 2-3 year contracts with my cellular service providers and let me tell you, the bills add up! I find it disgusting that I have to pay over $100 a month just to have a phone and some data. Time to to switch it up and look into Sim Only Deals!

SIM Only Deal or SIM Only Contract is a monthly contract which gives you an ‘x’ amount of minutes, text messages, and data without having to worry about going over the limit. These contracts can be monthly or one-time use depending on what your needs are. Sim only you are only purchasing a ‘sim card’ from a mobile telecommunications company and using your own unlocked phone. It’s easy to find best sim-only deals.
Advantages of SIM Only Deals?
Here are a few advantages of a SIM-only deal that may appeal to you.
- Inexpensive calls, texts, and other phone services when compared with a full contract because the cost does not include the price of your phone.
- You’re not locked into long contracts and if you are not satisfied with the service, simply leave with a one-month notice.
- Get more for less. These deals usually include more minutes and text compared to contract or pay-as-you-go services.
- You may call other networks at a set flat rate without worrying about having to pay premium call charges. Some deals allow you to call the same network without charging you minutes!
- Some deals let you have internet access or social networking sites included as part of the monthly fee!
Disadvantages of SIM Only Deals?
- Some phones may need to be unlocked if you switch service providers.
- You have to provide your own phone. You may want to consider buying a quality used smart phone if a brand new phone is too expensive.
Is SIM Only Deal Worth It?
Is it worth it? At the end of the day, you need to decide for yourself whether making the switch is worth it or not. Here are a few things to consider:
- Do you care if you have the latest handset device? If you said yes, you might be better off getting a contract which includes the price of the phone. Seeing the price of a brand new phone without a contract may cause some to go into cardiac arrest!
- If you have bad credit history, it might be difficult to get a SIM-only deal. But the good news is that despite there being a credit check, it has different criteria to a Pay monthly one. So you may be in luck!
- If you’re on a set budget and don’t want to go over your limit, you’ll always know what you’re paying with this service.
As you can see, there are more advantages than disadvantages when going with SIM Only Deals. For someone like myself who already has an unlocked Samsung Galaxy S4, picking a Sim-only deal is a no brainer.
