The race is on. No matter the content of deliveries happening around the world, the one constant is time. Time it will take for the consumer to get the item as soon as they order it. Here’s where delivery companies brag and show their force. From same-day deliveries, to making sure your package arrives unscathed; every company has a different approach.
The company Zipline has a rather ambitious and boastful take on this competitive market. They apparently have the fastest drone in the world. And if you think that angle alone can set this drone apart from everyone else, it has another trick up its sleeve. It can deliver your product and return to its sender on its own via GPS. That’s right: no remote control needed.
Zipline Blitz Approach:
The idea is fairly simple. You input the coordinates for the drone’s destination, and that is it. The drone takes off, follows the route to its destination, drops its delivery, and flies home. All its actions are embedded into the system, so you don’t have to micromanage. No longer will you have to watch every step of a drone’s delivery. Once you program the target location, you can just sit back, relax, and wait for the drone to return.
The Zipline drone can travel at breathtaking speeds of 80 miles per hour. The drone also has an operational range of 100 miles for its deliveries. Using this drone at a large scale may see up to 500 different deliveries on a daily basis.
Speed of course is the name of the game. When launched, the drone can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in half a second while still maintaining accuracy in landing. Aside from speed, the drone also offers space-saving features since it can launch and return without requiring a large area. This means you can start these drones at places with even minimal flat surfaces. No runways required, which streamlines the whole process.
In a world where speed is essential, Zipline may just be running to get first place.
