There’s always that moment where you can always tell whether it’s reality or science fiction. Small robot that roams the house and takes in dust and dirt? Reality. Large robot with multiple appendages doing housework while wearing an apron? Science fiction. Alas, reality is far simpler and if I may say so, more boring than its fictional counterparts. A seven-foot tall robot that runs on nuclear power doing housework is far more imaginative than a round vacuum cleaner with sensors. But hey, inch by inch, reality may one day catch up with fiction.
A fictional idea that always seem to appear in sci-fi stories is autonomous robots. Yes, self-thinking machines that can do the work without any human input. Robots that eventually, grow tired of their human overseers and rebel. But hopefully we won’t get there.
Mavic Pro Autonomy Drone:
A drone is making headlines by having a feature that turns heads to it: complete autonomy. DJI’s Mavic Pro quadcopter can see surroundings in front of it using its built-in camera. It can then dodge in real time and make changes to avoid crashing into things. All this while making sure its 4k camera doesn’t take its sights from its target.
The Mavic Pro’s physical body also has upsides. It can fold when not in use, so it does not take up a lot of space in storage. So in a way you can just take it out, set it to follow you, and you can go your way. You can have the ease of mind knowing the drone is following you, capturing movement, all while avoiding obstacles in its path. Just unleash it to the world and trust that it will do its job until you tell it to stop.
It’s an amazing feat, meaning you no longer have to be the one navigating the drone. You can enjoy yourself biking through the woods, or watching fireworks with people, while the drone records everything in sight.
