Study Shows 80% Increase in Drone Use Among Safety Sectors

Here’s an interesting fact for you guys. According to a recent study conducted across the United States, drones are more and more utilized in public safety.

Yes, no longer are drones simply there to take photos while you go to the park. The times of recreational drones flying over obstacles for mere leisure is no more. Drones are taking on a more responsible – a more important – part of society. Not just for fun anymore, these flying machines may soon watch your back in emergency situations.

Emergency Department Drones:

According to the study, over 900 public safety sectors now own or operate a drone. These drones act as scouts, surveyors, or simply eyes in the sky. In case of an emergency, you can rest easier knowing emergency responders have air support ready. These sectors include Local Law Enforcement, Fire Departments, and even Search and Rescue.

The past few months alone provided newsworthy headlines that showed great increase in efficiency with drones at the ready. Drones act as an extra set of eyes in the field. This ensures better safety both on the part of the responders, and of the people in need. Surveying the area before responders take over means they do not go in the area blind. This means less time spent on wrong directions, and more time on action.

The number provided by the study at the Bard College’s Center for the Study of the Drone creates an interesting fact. There had been an increase in drone demand of over 80% in public sectors compared to last year’s numbers alone. Even now more and more departments globally show interest in acquiring one or two drones for their arsenal.

Efficiency and time management showed great improvement with the addition of drones. Along with successes in cases where drones deployed, workplace injury also lessened. With aerial coverage by drones, both the emergency responders and their patients have never been safer.

Watch the skies, safety is in the horizon. Drones are the future, and the future may soon be coming to your neighborhood.
