Porsche Hints Transport Drone Creation

Transport drones are the future. Numerous companies worldwide are on a race at the moment. They all want to be the first company to be linked with the transport of the future: a drone. You see, these companies see a future where there are no road traffic jams and no public transport. China has been testing their very own Ehang Transport Drone, while Airbus has the Vahana Taxi Drone.

Of course, these massive flying machines are still in the developmental phase. It may take quite some time before you see it landing at your doorstep. The race however, is on.

Porsche-branded drones?

Another company that threw their name in the competition is none other than the world famous car manufacturer Porsche. They are trying to create their very own passenger drone with focus on speed and availability. For comparison, the Ehang 184 and the Vahana Taxi boast very long distance of travel compared to fuel consumption. All three drone prototypes though have one thing in common: automation. Passengers need only input the target destination, and the drone will do the rest.

Yes, the idea of sitting inside a pod and flying away has always been a dream. While your transport soars through the air unmanned, you can simply relax and wait to arrive at a destination. Think of the TV show The Jetsons but without the everyday high jinx and laugh track. The stories of fiction and sci-fi has always painted futuristic travel with flying cars. Perhaps this is our reality. Perhaps it is not four-wheeled vehicles that will dominate the skies. Maybe the answer to the long awaited question comes in the form of a carriage with 8 propellers?

But of course, like previously mentioned, we have a long way to go. Statements from the Porsche company talking heads are considering the drone’s features and designs. This can mean that they are still in the very initial phases of development. Perhaps it will take another year or two before they can release a prototype, if not flight footage of their tests.

All we can do now is wait. The future is rapidly coming towards us. Are you ready?
