The Punjabi Government Allows Farmers to Use Drones

The government of Punjab has recently permitted the use of drone technology by farmers and other workers in the agricultural sector to help improve crop yields and existing farming methods.
The Department of Agriculture stated that drone technology can be used to distribute pesticides over large areas of cropland, conduct surveys of crops and other resources in an area, pest and weed monitoring, and many other things to help make farming more efficient in the region. Additionally, they stated that drones can also be used to research areas for future production.
Anyone interested in using drone technology in their work has to submit applications to their local Agricultural Deputy Director, and wait for their application to be approved by the appropriate people.
Approval will be given after professionals analyze the region and the methods used by the person who submitted the application, and then a no-objection certificate will be provided to the applicant. The certificate will dictate how long the applicant can use the drone technology, and over which specific areas; a police officer may also have to be in the region when the drone is deployed.
