Drone Footage of American & English Towns Showcase Winter Landscapes

With winter here in full force, the United States and England have been experiencing the usual low temperatures and snowfall associated with the season. While some states are used to huge amounts of snow, some states closer to the equator often only see a single day of freezing weather annually.
With the increase in drone sales, it is no surprise that many hobbyists are using their drones to capture footage of winter scenery. Snowy landscapes look magical from aerial angles, and drones are able to film from angles that most hobbyists could never hope to reach themselves. The videos listed in this article are innovative, and showcase snowy scenery in ways that we hadn’t otherwise seen in the world of drone video.
In Atlanta, Georgia, snow fell over a couple of days—a nice surprise for the city that otherwise doesn’t experience much snowfall. Drone pilot, Ben Kaiser, was able to use his drone to film the city under freshly fallen snow. In his video, you can see snowflakes falling to the ground, adding to the layer of snow that has already accumulated on the ground. He captured this footage when there was less than two inches of snow on the ground, but Georgia ultimately saw around 8 inches of snow during that period.
Andre Mellet is another drone pilot from the United States who was able to capture some gorgeous winter footage using his hobby drone. Mellet filmed in West and High Wycombe, just after the area was covered by fluffy white snow. He highlights landmarks like the Dashwood Mausoleum and the West Wycombe Estate Grounds, showing viewers pieces of West Wycombe in a rare snowy setting.
Over in Cheltenham, England, another drone hobbyist used his drone to film his snowy town. Callum Chaplin is an experienced pilot, and his skills have been accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority, so he knows a thing or two about drones. Chaplin is very passionate about drones, and wants to show how the proper usage of these devices can lead to wonderful things. Chaplin’s video highlights the snowy atmosphere, with only a little white dog wandering through the snow while everyone stays warm inside their homes.
The last video was filmed by Rob Shoesmith in Charterhouse Fields, Coventry; Shoesmith is a businessman who runs his company out of Whitley, called Shoesmith Drones. Shoesmith’s company uses drones to provide wedding and party filming services to clients, among other things, so Rob is experienced with using drones to film beautiful scenes. In his video, snow covers Charterhouse Fields, and only a few cars are driving on the freshly fallen snow.
Drones have done so much to help people see things from angles never previously seen. Given their ability to fly at high elevations, drones can give you an aerial view of everything, making for very interesting and visually appealing videos.
