Dubai Skies Home to Passenger Drones

The Chinese EHang 184, a quadcopter that’s the perfect size to carry a person, could be released as early as this summer, according to the head of Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Agency. The EHang 184 was introduced into Dubai’s futuristic city in the summer of 2017.
The EHang 184 wasn’t a complete surprise to the world of drone tech, as it was a common site around Burj Al-Arab, a skyscraper in Dubai that already has a helipad that hovers nearly 700 feet above the ground. The head of Dubai’s Roads and Transportation Agency confidently said that the EHang 184 had been tested in Dubai’s skies prior to its release.
The Roads and Transportation Agency didn’t elaborate very much at the time, but it was obvious that the drone had been upgraded tremendously to improve its specs. It was able to fly for a full 30 minutes for up to 31 miles, and could carry a passenger who weighed a maximum of 260 lbs, as well as a small piece of luggage. The vehicle is easy to control, and passengers only had to type in their destination before being able to use the drone.
Dubai was the first city in the world to implement programs involving flying passenger drones, but Nevada is also looking to gain the FAA’s approval to implement similar programs with the EHang.
