Being a heavy vaper and a computer programmer, I have always wondered how harmful vaping is to my computer, iphone, and Nintendo Wii. I started off being very diligent about my vaping. I would step outside whenever I needed a fix and blow the vapor into the air. Recently however, I would either be so enthralled in my coding or my video games, that I would just vape where I sat. And I usually sit right next to my equipment. I need to make that cheddar to support the crazy rents out here in the bay area, so I got to work hard. No time for a vape break.
In my quest for knowledge, I turned to Google for answers. I learned that the key issue of vaping near your electronics is that there could be moisture build up from the vapor may cause irreparable damage to the guts of the equipment. There are a lot of vapers who actually blow vape clouds right at the computer to see how the airflow is going through the devices. And although I was not able to find any studies done on the long term impact of vaping around computers, the vast majority of people who did vape in front of their computers did not experience any degradation of computer performance due to excess vaping.
The one caveat here is that most of the popular vape juices that you purchase at the online vape shops are usually of the flavored variety. These kind of juices will gunk up your vape coils with a quickness. Over time, the same gunk that ends up on your coils could end up on your computer internals and stick to surfaces like the fans and motherboard. As you can imagine, this could cause the fan to slow down and overheat the computer. If you are afraid of this, make sure you vape away from the computer into the air above the device or below it.
In conclusion, your environment will most likely harm your computer. Going down this educational path, I will be more vigilant about vaping around my computer. If need be, I will leave the room and take a walk while vaping. But if I need to vape in the room, I will make sure that I blow the vape clouds away from my computer.
