Since I first heard of 3D printing some years ago, I’ve been following the technology like a hawk. I believe it’s one of those technologies that’s going to change our world for the better. I think that in about a decade, every home will have their own 3D printer for printing out gadgets and gear. But I’m getting ahead of myself…
Though the technology isn’t quite at that point yet, it IS improving rapidly, and companies like re: 3D are making it happen. What you’re about to watch is a Kickstarter video for their latest and greatest large scale 3D printer. In short, it’s capable of producing 3D prints that are bigger than anything else on the market. Yes, you too can print your very own awesome futuristic vase.
re: 3D’s Gigabot 3D Printer
Okay, get ready for it, and keep a keen eye out for the time-lapse section. That’s my favorite!

Awesome, right? They’re just printing out some simple items, like the previously mentioned flower vase, but that’s just the beginning. Prints are becoming higher and higher resolution, and the technology is quickly reaching a point where the only limitation will be your imagination. That’s kind of a scary thought, actually… we already know that people are using 3D printers to create toys for the bedroom, so I can just imagine what those same people will come up with given larger scale 3D printing. 😐 In any case…
Gigabot isn’t available for purchase via retail, but you can help them make this project a reality by heading over to Kickstarter and giving them your pledge. You’ll get one of the printers for your very own, and you’ll help make large scale 3D printing a reality for everyone. Now we just need to start printing entire homes out… homes on the moon, or Mars.
